Why do you play music?
The most direct, intuitive even, answer would be that playing music to me (and especially the guitar) means life, it makes me feel alive. Both writing and performing, each has its traits and special feeling.
What Ormsby instrument do you use and what do you like about it?
I play both Hype GTRs 6 and 7 strings, the 6string is with me since 2016 and up until this very day is my #1 axe, the feel and comfortability of this one is out of this world and now with having both custom shop Blizzard and DeLacreme pickups its even deadlier and deeper in terms of tone.
What other gear and equipment do you pair said Ormsby with and why?
Pickups. As said above, Blizzard and DeLacreme is a great combo and I know the custom shop has many other killer sets.
What is one memorable tour/music related story you have?
I remember touring EU with my Obsidian Tide back in 2023 and one of the gigs we had was the ProgPower Europe festival. The gig was phenomenal and we shared the stage with many great acts yet the pinnacle of it all was.. sleeping in a castle from the 16th century. I remember the morning of the gig when I woke up and went to the window and looked outside and saw the amazing view of little pond with ducks and green and the sky.. I said to myself music can bring amazing moments and experiences, this place had such a unique vibe and I was so grateful that moment.
Who are your musical influences?
At first and when discovering music when I was 7 or maybe 8 years old, it was mostly the things which been rotating on Saturdays with my dad, mostly mainstream music in the veins of ABBA, Bee Gees, ELO, Elton John and other disco and pop stuff. Later when I grew up and while getting more into music and guitar playing more seriously I can definitely mention bands such as Dream Theater, Meshuggah, Opeth, Tool and more prog metal acts. These days I am still very much into prog metal but I also enjoy many other genres such as post rock, technical death metal and eve folk and opera.
Do you have any other hobbies? Tell us a bit about it.
Many haha. I am a huge football fan, and especially of the Champions League tournament. I'm very much into coffee (I got a really nice machine, ground beans etc') and beer and lately cocktails as well. I sometimes love chess (when I'm winning lolz), I love collecting vinyls and I also love travelling when I can.
